Building something open.
flood and pull. is being established in Folkestone as the town's first dedicated screen print studio, due to become fully operational in September 2026.
The vision
A space for experimentation and exchange.
flood and pull. will be a space for experimentation, learning and creative exchange. The studio will offer workshops and courses for all experience levels, from complete beginners to established practitioners.
Screen printing rewards curiosity. It is a medium where a happy accident can become your favourite print, and where sharing a bench with other people makes everyone braver. That spirit is what flood and pull. is built around.
Where it is heading
Towards open access.
Looking ahead, flood and pull. will develop into an open-access screen print studio, giving artists, designers and the wider community the facilities, technical support and space to develop their own work independently.

Who's behind it
Founded by Charlotte Whiston.
Charlotte honed her craft at Central Saint Martins, working closely with its specialist print technicians, and has since worked in a number of commercial screen print studios across London. She has also led screen printing workshops at institutions including the Royal Academy of Arts and the National Geographic Society. As a qualified Art teacher as well as a practising artist and printmaker, you're in safe hands.
Having spent much of her teaching career working with young people from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds, Charlotte is passionate about making specialist printmaking skills and facilities accessible to people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to use them.
flood and pull. welcomes everyone, from complete beginners to established artists, providing open-access membership, courses, workshops and professional editioning services. The studio will also work with local schools and community groups to provide workshops and courses, helping more people discover and develop their skills in screen printing.
